Preseason Tournament

I know it has been a while since I last posted, but not much was happening, just the usual. This weekend though we had our first preseason tournament at Lewis University. It was a great first tournament and the team is looking really good! We left around 6:00pm Saturday after helping out at the girls game. We got to the hotel around 10:15pm. The bus ride wasn’t that bad, a lot of us were either doing homework, watching tv, or sleeping. When we finally got to the hotel we went to the rooms, showered up and went to bed. In the morning we were up at 6:15 am, showered, went down and ate a continental breakfast and left for the tournament. First match was at 9:30 am and we played Lewis. After Lewis we played Loyola. When we finished up against Loyola we got a lunch break and the next match started at 2:00pm. We played Lindenwood and then McKendree right after. It was a long day, but really fun and there were some great rallies and the playing was super competitive all around. We got on the bus and headed back for Quincy. On the ride back almost everyone slept, with the exception of the few who did homework. We arrived back at Quincy a little earlier than expected so we got a little more time to sleep before waking up early for class today. Overall, it was a great first tournament and I am excited for the season to start.

Week 3 & 4

Not a lot happened last week so I decided to combine my post with this week too. Last week was the same old stuff, but this week we officially started team practices! Not only that, but this week was Homecoming week. Last Sunday the fun-filled week began with an event called “H2O Splash”. It was a big event with slip n slides, water slides, water balloons, snow cones, cotton candy, and so much more. Also, there is a tradition where teams and clubs from the University each paint a square on the sidewalk, so when the H20 event ended all the guys on the team got together and painted our square. Thursday was the Balloon Glow, which is where everyone gets together to hangout, play in bounce houses, and watch hot air balloons do a light show. Unfortunately, the wind was so strong that the balloons had to be taken down. Saturday afternoon was the football game and we grilled out and played bags and then around 9:00pm we went to a stand up comedy show. Today, Sunday, I’m just cleaning my dorm room, and watching some practice film, doing homework, and relaxing before another busy week of school.

Week 1

Hey everyone! Week 1 is complete and there was so much happening. We officially got started with volleyball and have been working hard to get ready for the upcoming season. After a good week of workouts we had to work the Iowa Football game on Saturday for one of our team fundraisers. Doesn’t sound that bad does it? If you call waking up at 1:45am, working all day, then driving back around midnight not that bad, then yeah it was great. Sunday was a nice relaxing day off and Monday we started with individual practices. This week we will continue with practice and workouts Monday- Friday and Saturday we will be going to work the Iowa State vs. Iowa Football game.

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Throughout the year I will hopefully be posting pictures, videos, blog posts, etc. once a week just to keep everyone up to date on what’s happening in my life. I’m really excited to get this journey started and to share my experiences as a college athlete!

Sincerely,

Thomas Robson
